Neil Mark D’Souza

b. 1992. Originally from Plano, Texas, Currently living and working in Phoenix.

I specialize in figurative realism and portraiture, primarily through oils, graphite and charcoal. Through art, I aim to transcend the limitations of post-modern, materialistic, and reductionist world-views, in order to interface with the multidimensional immaterial reality that is uniquely experienced by the human person.

This reality that I hope to call forth and unveil in my work is comprised of the metaphysical realms of ideas, emotion, consciousness and spirit. Utilizing traditional layering methods in combination with alla prima, I strive to incorporate carefully chosen subjects, compositions and color schemes, with a particular emphasis on the interplay of light & shadow, and varieties of texture. I am also a Catholic artist and enjoy creating religious art.
